My 18th Birthday

After such a busy month, I thought it'd be nice to reflect on some of the best bits by creating a blog post! In hind-sight, it was so lovely to be able to spend some happy time with family, with friends and with Matthew as they all made it so special! It was really tempting to just take a "no fuss" approach to it, what with A level results and university being at the forefront of my mind... but I'm so pleased that I was able to take time out from that to celebrate such an important birthday! So I guess that's a small piece of advice there? Don't let your 18th birthday go un-noticed... it's a big one!

The 18th of August is my actual birthday (18 on the 18th!) which fell on a Sunday this year, so a lot of my family came over on the Saturday night before. We originally set up a big gazebo in the garden, but due to the wind we had to move it right up to the back door, creating an almost pop up conservatory! There were fairy lights, balloons, baby photos (eek!) all around the dining room and outside, along with lots of yummy food... it all looked beautiful and I was so happy... Thanks mumsy!

Beautiful birthday cake! Made by a little cake shop in Newark

Now, this was the ultimate highlight of my entire night (and life haha). This little box had been sitting on the table and I had no clue what was inside. Everyone was gathered around to watch me open it, and I'll never forget how exciting it was! Inside, were 2 tickets to Disneyland Paris to stay for 4 nights just before Christmas for me and Matthew! It had been our dream for years and we'd been saving up for a long time, I was soooo shocked I had to get a glass of water to calm down haha! It was the most perfect 18th birthday present, as it's a memory that will stay with me longer than any other gift ever could! My parents had found the little brochure in my bedroom, in which we'd planned our stay down to every last detail... Christmas themed room, travel by plane, and other little bits and pieces we'd dreamed about for our stay. So, they'd taken it to the travel agents and ensured everything was perfect... I will always be so grateful to them, literally couldn't have wished for more! Sooo excited!!

Celebrating well under way... now for my actual birthday!

Perfect presents from Matthew, especially my flowers with a cabbage haha!!

Best thing to have on your birthday? Your favourite food! Hence, the two takeaways haha!
